| Lunigiana |
Lunigiana is a medieval historic name of the “Val di Magra”, “Val di Vara”, La Spezia Gulf , Cinque Terre and Apuana Riviera.
The name derives from the ancient Roman town of Luni. The region has about 100 castles and many medieval villages.

La Versilia, in the North/West area of the Tuscany , incorporated in Lucca province, are the beaches of V.I.P. since the ‘60's.
The liberty style villas and palaces along the streets, the famous restaurants and nightclubs make this place unique.

Sarzana is the second most inhabited town of La Spezia area, at a few kilometres from the Mar Ligure and the Tuscany borders.
Its geographic position made Sarzana a so called border land, a medley of uses, traditions and histories.
Many cultural events are planned during the whole year.

The town is in the middle of the “Gulf of Poets” between the fishing village of Portovenere at West and Lerici at East. The irregular coasts and Parodi's mountain frame the gulf.
The ancient name of “Lunea” shows Roman origins.
The town reached its top from the domination of Fieschi, Genoan family, to Napoleon the first.

The name of “Pearl of the Gulf” was given by the 19th century's poets.
It is near the mouth of Magra's River in the Easter part of the Gulf.
Important port under the Roman Empire and, later, port for pilgrims who, through Sarzana, reached the “Via Francigena” to go to Rome.

In the Western part of the Gulf, rocky coasts and the three islands of Palmaria, Tino, Tinetto give a charming atmosphere.
The name derives from the Roman temple of “Venere Ericina” where nowadays stands Saint Peter's Church, in Genoan gothic style (XII century)

Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso are within a national park and since 1997 belong to Unesco Patronage.
